Imperial
Roman Ruckus MMXXI
04 - Deploying the
miniature armies

Time was
short so I did a hidden deployment sketch then Rich deployed. I
intended to have the first side
double move to get things going, but I forgot that nuance in the heat
of starting play.
Rich
Norton's super cool Wargames Foundry 28mm Legions, with his general
who looks like Vespasian.
A group of German symmachiarii skirmishers cover the front.
My
repainted Later Foundry and Copplestone legionaries on the right. A
group of Gauls symmachiarii were held in reserve.
A
lot of my legionaries are off the shelf from Dragon Painting Studios
in China which I bought a long time ago.
I painted
the centurions. I also touched up the paint jobs, and re painted
shield colors.
Looking up
the line from my left flank, Legions then allies, then massed legions.
I planned a swift blitz into the village.
My
activation rolls slowed that plan down. The Eagle markers represent
what in WAB was called Stubborn.
This just
allows the unit to ignore their first Courage test. I found a cool
design for an Eagle on the WEB and made markers.
I would
prefer to use miniatures and I have a bunch that I will use for this
purpose in the future.
Over the
years I have collected a lot of EIR figures but not painted too many.
Lately
I have been painting many of the Roman command figures for grins.
COVID projects-
paint them or say goodbye.
