10 Auxiliaries lead
the way

Sagitarius archers clamor to get back
into the game. These are Warlord and Foundry mixed together.
They do so nicely and were fun to
finally get painted after years of closeted neglect.
Green on
blue action in the center of town. Auxiliaries duke it out with no
room to budge.

Germans
surge next to the town can they intervene? Some controversy there.
They needed to be able to operate as fleet footed.
That and
smaller unit sizes would have helped their cause.
The battle
in the village reminded me of the dramatic cover art by Michael Perry
for the
Warhammer
Ancient Battles first supplement. Armies of Antiquity allowed Rich and
I to play our first games
with
Macedonians vs. his newly painted (at that time) Early Imperial
Romans.
That was way back in 1999.
My
auxiliaries dared to stand up to the Rhine veteran legions and got
thumped.
Rich was
gaining the victory count total toward attaining the seat of emperor.
The green
shields had new decals I made from re-enactor's pages.
